Getting Started with Ableton Live
Event Information
About event
In this workshop you will get a hands-on tour of Ableton Live that will show you how to start making sounds without feeling lost. You’ll see how Ableton Live can be used for making beats, recording vocals & instruments, playing multi-track loops, and even DJing. By the end you will be able to find your way around the program and start a new music Project of your own, with a clear understanding of the steps involved.

Tech 25 will provide computers and a copy of Ableton Live for you to use, as well as additional online support with resources for you to download and explore. This is a hands-on workshop where you will be playing sounds, listening to music, and exploring creative options inside Live. Expect about 2 hours of lecture and 1 hour of guided lab/play time

No experience necessary! We love beginners.

This class will be taught by Steve Knots.

Steve Knots is an Ableton Live producer with 25 years experience making original electronic music, performing, and working as a live sound engineer.  He has a unique talent for explaining things in a simple way to keep each student engaged in hands-on activities. He currently lives in Pittsburgh where he continues to make tracks, livestream lessons, and help organize the official Ableton Live User Group. Academic credentials: BFA in Music and Technology from the Sonic Arts Center at the City College of New York (BFA 2003).
