Sound Design & Mixing for Theatre

What does it take to bring the sonic world of a musical to life? In this workshop, we'll dive into translating a script from page to stage, as well as look at some of the tools theatrical sound designers use from local theaters to Broadway shows. We will also get a chance to practice theatrical mixing techniques using stems from a large musical.

Kyle Jensen is a multi-award-winning sound designer, having worked on musicals, plays, immersive productions, and trade shows. and is very excited to be returning to Cortland Rep for his third season! Previous CRT designs include “Xanadu”, “Escape to Margaritaville,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

He is a member of the executive board of the Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association, as well as the Association of Sound Designers, and USA-829. He also is the sound supervisor and a sound design mentor for the School of Theatre at Penn State.
