Tech25's Jordan Gilliam to Speak at NAMM Workshop on Integrating Hip-Hop into Music Education
Posted 01/23/25Tech25's Director of Education, Jordan Gilliam, will be a featured speaker at the highly anticipated workshop, Integrating Hip-Hop into the Music Curriculum, during NAMM this year. This dynamic session, presented by The NAMM Foundation in collaboration with Music Will, will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Hip-hop has emerged as the most listened-to music genre globally, yet many educators face challenges in leveraging its cultural relevance to engage students. This workshop aims to bridge that gap by equipping music educators with practical tools and strategies to incorporate elements of hip-hop—such as EmCeeing, beat-making, and hip-hop culture—into their classrooms.
Jordan Gilliam will join a panel of experts to guide participants through interactive sessions, including songwriting techniques, culture-building activities, and an exploration of iconic hip-hop artists and sounds. Attendees will gain valuable insights into hip-hop’s profound influence on modern music and its potential to enhance students' literacy and creative expression.
